Civil Partnership Act
On the 5th Decemeber 2005 the Civil Partnersip Act comes into force. This will allow same sex couples the opportunity to enter into a legal arrangement giving them virtually identical rights as husband and wife marriages. More information is available from the Government's Women and Equality Unit.

Mental Capacity Act
This act, due to come into force in 2007, will replace the current Enduring Power of Attorney with a new Lasting Power of Attorney. This will not only deal with the donor's financial assets, but also with matters concerning their presonal wellbeing in the event of their suffering a critical illness.
